ABOUT OUR horses
Horses in the program which are available for adoption are first started with basics on the longe line as well as a flatwork program. When they are ready, we start to incorporate pole work, basic gymnastics and introduce more over fences work if the horse is suitable. They are also occasionally free longed and free jumped, again dependent on suitability. We do not allow people to try track broke only horses. The majority of our horses are best suited to an intermediate level rider and up, preferable working with a knowledgeable coach/trainer, simply because most are greener. We do occasionally have some horses available with a fair amount of schooling on them that may be suitable for a good novice level rider, again, preferably working with a knowledgeable trainer/coach to keep things heading in the right direction.
Please note that not all horses in the program are available as we have quite a few sanctuary horses. Those that are available are re-started and therefore available to be tried. Not all available horses are suitable for all disciplines. We recommend you bringing along another knowledgeable party and/or trainer or coach for further input on any horse that might interest you. All of our horses are UTD on worming, vaccinations, teeth floating and farrier. As well, we do offer any veterinary records that we have access to as well as any other information we may have on the horses in the program. A PPE is also recommended as we cannot know all of the details of every horse.
If for some reason at any point in time should circumstances change for an adopter and they can no longer keep their horse, we do accept our adopted horses back into the program if space and funding permit. There are no restrictions regarding re-sale of adopted horses if you are buying as a project, we simply ask that we be notified of the pending sale, the new owner's contact info be provided to us, ours to them and that the contract follow onwards to the new party in order to help protect the horse for life.
